Dubai: Rinitha Rajith defeated Ganga Pradeep 21-15, 21-12 to win the girls singles India Club UAE Open Badminton Tournament under-12 title.
In the finals of the boys doubles under-18, Abdullah Shaheer and Rohan Jyotish defeated Alen Jude Shibu and Myron Verano in two straight sets 21-8, 21-12.
In the finals of the veteran singles 45 and above, Fahyani Rianto defeated Xavier Raphel 21-19, 21-15 to win the title. Incidentally, Xavier Raphel was the winner while Fahyani Rianto was the runner-up in the category last year.
In the three ladies singles quarter-finals matches, Haritha Harinarayanan beat Filaa Omer Khan 21-1, 21-1, while Agna Anto beat Gyann Baral 21-10, 21-7 and Palwasha Bashir beat Patricia Fernandes 21-2, 21-1 to move to the semis.
In the boys under-12 category, Stefan Binu defeated Hiraan Rasi 21-14, 21-10 in the quarter-finals. In the semi-finals, Ankit Mathew beat Binu 13-21, 21-19, 21-13 in a hard-fought match that went into three sets.
In the boys singles under-18 category, Mohammad Muanis got a walkover against Rehan Arshad, while in the quarter-finals, Abdullah Shaheer beat Viyola Kuruvath 21-17, 21-15. In the semi-finals, Abdullah Shaheer beat Rohan Jyotish 21-12, 21-17.
