The UAE's lone judoka, 18-year-old Saeed Al Qubaisi, saw his Olympic dream last only one minute and 27 seconds on Monday when he lost his first round bout to Marlon August of South Africa.
Al Qubaisi was thrown by his opponent to lose by ippon (one full point) in the preliminary round of the under 73kg class in Beijing.
It was a crushing disappointment for the young Emirati, who went into the Games confident that he could progress to the latter stages of the event.
