Dubai: A consistent Richie Jacob steered Ocean Fair International to an exciting four-run victory over Yes-Bank Premium Aces team in the final of the Oasis Chemical Cup.

Jacob, who hails from Pakistan, has played many a whirlwind innings in domestic cricket and came good for his team yet again with an allround show in the final at the Ocean Fair Sports Club ground in Dubai Investment Park.

Jacob weighed in with 71 in Ocean Fair’s total of 159 in 20 overs. He was well supported by Mohammad Ilyas, who scored 33 runs.

In April this year, Jacob had played a stupendous knock of 171 to help Ocean Fair post a mammoth 323 for 4 in 20 overs against Power House team at the same ground.

Ocean Fair could have put up a bigger total in the final but for Yes-Bank’s Rajeeb Nagur who bagged four wickets for 28 runs. Hemin Desai chipped in with 2 for 24 and Saurabh Kapoor bagged 2 for 23.

In their chase, the Yes-Bank batsmen failed to put on a big partnership. Hemin Desai topscored with 29 while Vikas Parshad scored 23 runs.

Jacob then showed his prowess with the ball in hand, taking 3 wickets for 28 from his four overs. Basit Ali too took 2 for 16 to hold off Yes-Bank who made a valiant effort to reach the target.

This tournament, which is one of the oldest tournaments in the domestic season, is in its 17th year and the prizes were given away by Venu Gopal of Oasis Chemicals Sharjah in the presence of organisers Freddy Sidhwa and Tariq Butt.
