Dubai: Former top class miler Aljamaaheer continues his sprinting renaissance when he takes on the likes of Slade Power in the Group 1 Darley July Cup at Newmarket Racecourse on July 12.

The six-furlong contest on part of the British Champions Series And Global Sprint Challenge.

Trained by Roger Varian for owner Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, Aljamaaheer was last seen finishing a brave third in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes (G1) at Royal Ascot.

Meanwhile, a quality field of nine fillies will contest the Falmouth Stakes on Friday.

The field is headed by Coronation Stakes scorer Rizeena and multiple Group 1 winner Sky Lantern.

Clive Brittain’s Rizeena returned to her best for when landing the big race at Ascot and is now set to take on her elders.

Rizeena is owned by Shaikh Juma Bin Dalmouk Al Maktoum.

The field also includes Purr Along who was last of four behind Elusive Kate in the one-mile Group One last summer when trained by William Muir.

She is now trained by ex jockey Johnny Murtagh who said: “She’s doing well and we’ve left her in the Falmouth. We’ll have a look at the race and make a decision early next week,” said County Kildare-based Murtagh.

“She’s in good form and ran well at Ascot.”

The Charlie Hills-trained duo of Just The Judge and Kiyoshi, last year’s Fillies’ Mile winner Certify, Aidan O’Brien’s Peace Burg and Mark Johnston’s Ascot winner Muteela could all also run.
