Dubai: The Sharjah Equestrian & Racing Club have left no stone unturned in their efforts to host the 19th Sharjah International Arabian Horse Festival and were rewarded with a ‘hugely successful event.’

The show, which attracted the highest calibre of purebred Arabian show horses from around the world, culminated in the six Championship classes for Yearling Fillies, Fillies 2-3 years, Mares over 3 years, Yearling Colts, Colts 2-3 years and the ultra-competitive Stallion category for horse above 3 years.

Equator, an eight-year-old bay owned and bred by Michalow State Stud in Poland and leased to California-based Aljassimya Farm, bowled over the seven judges with his effortless movement and proud head carriage to win the coveted Stallions trophy.

An impressive winner in prestigious shows at Santa Barbara, Las Vegas, Paris, Verona and Aachen, Equator has emerged as one of the highest scoring Arabians on the circuit.

Gabel Athbah, representing Saudi Arabia’s Abdulaziz Bin Ahmad Al Saud, was adjudged gold champion in the category for colts, aged 2-3 years.

Dubai Arabian Horse Stud’s D Shallal was declared Silver champion.

However, D Bareq gave the stud one of four trophies at the event when winning gold in the Yearling Colt category.

The Dubai Arabia Horse Stud made it a red-letter day by achieving more success with D Ghallah, Yearling Fillies silver champion. D Shallal, Silver Champion for colts, and D Mumayyazah, who earned bronze in the Fillies division.

Commenting on the event, Sultan Al Yahyae, General Manager of the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, said: “When we began to make plans to host this prestigious championship, we wanted to do our best to prove that the club is capable of hosting a major event as this.

“We received phone calls from owners and breeders all over the county, the Middle East and around the world, prior to the event and we are pleased that the quality of horses that participated in the Festival, was of the highest standard.

“This was a truly international show as we had winners from Europe, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and everyone who participated seemed to enjoy themselves,” he added.

“A big thank-you goes to everyone who supported us and we look forward to hosting more horse shows the next season.”
