Newbury, England: A book that chronicles the passion and equine experiences of a young Emirati Shaikha was launched at Newbury Racecourse in England on Sunday.

Entitled ‘Tajaarub: From a Horsewoman’s Journey’, the paperback was written by Shaikha Hessa Bint Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the 19-year-old daughter of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance.

Shaikha Hessa explores the powerful connection between humans and horses in a collection of articles that demonstrate her devotion to an equine-themed lifestyle.

‘Tajaarub’ will soon be available at British bookshops and is sure to attract the attention of aficionados of flat racing, show-jumping, eventing and endurance.

“Her Highness Shaikha Hessa has poured her heart out into this wonderful book, which is written in her own unique style,” said Mirza Al Sayegh, Director of Shaikh Hamdan’s Office.

“She has a natural way of telling readers of her relationship and love for horses. It’s a love that inspired her to write this book, which we hope to publish in seven languages.

“Shaikha Hessa writes with a passion that will inspire even those not acquainted with horses to read it until the very last page.”

Sarah Judge, Shaikha Hessa’s personal assistant, added: “Shaikha Hessa is an accomplished horsewoman who likes a natural horsemanship style of riding. She likes to be surrounded by horses and has a rare affection for them.

“With the support and encouragement of her father, Shaikh Hamdan, as she grew older Shaikha Hessa developed a unique bond with horses and decided to document this journey in her book.”

‘Tajaarub’ was previously on display at the Abu Dhabi Book Fair and at Bangkok earlier this year.
