Dubai: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, won the CISM World Military Endurance Championship at Dubai International Endurance City on Thursday.

Shaikh Hamdan beat a strong field of riders representing 25 countries to win the 120km event.

He was defending his title, having won the inaugural ride at Bahrain in 2012.

Riders competed both as individuals and in teams of four.

The roster of participating countries included the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Yemen, Jordan, Morocco, Palestine, Libya, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Spain, Ecuador, Brazil, Chile, Italy, Estonia, Uruguay, Lithuania, Sri Lanka, Poland, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, France, Latvia, and Lebanon.

The ride was attended by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE; members of the Royal Family of Bahrain, dignitaries; and senior officials of CISM (Conseil International du Sport Militaire)

The competition was empowered by Meydan Pillar Partner, IPIC (International Petroleum Investment Company) and organised by Meydan Group’s Dubai Equestrian Club (DEC) alongside the military sport body, CISM, and the UAE’s Ministry of Defence.
