Abu Dhabi: Registration for the prestigious HH Shaikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival Darley Awards and the HH Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Darley Awards will close on December 31, it was announced on Wednesday.

The Darley Awards were founded in 1987 to honour the best Purbred Arabian racehorses and their jockeys, owners, trainers and breeders.

Speaking to the media at the Abu Dhabi Mangroves Hotel, Lara Sawaya, director of the HH Shaikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival and Head of IFAHR Ladies Racing, said: “Regarding the preparations for the 2013 HH Shaikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival Darley Awards and the HH Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Darley Awards, application forms will be distributed to the 24 member countries and must be duly completed and returned to the judges who will commence their job to select the winners from January 2, 2013.

“Registration for the Awards closes by December 31, 2012 and the nominees will be declared accordingly.”

The judges are - Mubarak Al Muhairi (UAE), Noora Al Suwaidi (UAE), Lulwa Al Awadi (Bahrain), Dr.Wadouda Badran (Egypt), Sami Al Boueinen (Qatar), Brigadier Abdul Razak Shahwarzi (Oman), Dnise Gault, Richard Lancaster (UK), Yves Plantin (France), Issam Abdulla (UAE), Lara Saway (UAE) and Haneke Brand (technical coordinator).

Meanwhile, Sawaya confirmed that the fourth edition of the World Arabian Horse Racing Conference France 2013 will be officially announced at the Paris JW Marriott Champs Elysees at noon on 12.12.2012.

The conference is scheduled to take place from June 6-8, 2013 at the Pierre Baude Centre of Congress, Toulouse, France and will culminate with the Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup and HH Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship (IFAHR) at the Toulouse Hippodrome on July 9, 2013.
