Dubai: Muhaarar looks certain to secure a coveted Cartier Racing Award after notching his fourth consecutive Group 1 victory in the British Champions Sprint on British Champions Day earlier this month.

With 136 points, the outstanding three-year-old colt, trained by Charlie Hills for owner/breeder Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance has a big lead over dual Group 1 winner Goldream (72) in race for the Cartier Sprinter Award.

He also lies second in the standings for Cartier Three-Year-Old Colt Award behind Golden Horn.

Solow has laid down a challenge for Cartier Horse of the Year honours following a superb victory in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at British Champions Day.

Trained in Chantilly by Freddy Head, Solow was landing his fifth consecutive Group 1 contest of 2015 and is in second place in the Cartier Horse of the Year standings with 200 points, behind Epsom Derby and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe hero Golden Horn (232).

Solow holds a commanding advantage over Esoterique (124) in the battle for the Cartier Older Horse Award.

The 25th annual Cartier Racing Awards will be presented on the evening of Tuesday, November 10.

Public voting commenced on Wednesday, October 21, through postal votes and online at www.cartierracingawards.com. Voting ends at noon (UK time) on Tuesday, November 3 following the early-morning running of Emirates Melbourne Cup in Australia.

Harry Herbert, Cartier’s Racing Consultant, commented: “QIPCO British Champions Day continues to go from strength to strength and this year’s renewal generated terrific performances, most notably from French superstar Solow and Muhaarar, who has established himself as one of the best sprinters over the years.

“The 2015 European Flat racing season is well inside the final furlong, with the last British Group One race taking place at Doncaster on Saturday (October 24), the Racing Post Trophy.

“There is less than a fortnight until the Breeders’ Cup at Keeneland, USA and, with the European raiding party set to include Golden Horn and Legatissimo, the race for Cartier honours is certainly not over.

“Voting has opened today (October 21) and I would encourage people to get involved through www.cartierracingawards.com and help choose this year’s winners of the Cartier Racing Awards.

“The Cartier Racing Awards are unique in being decided by a three-stranded process which actively seeks to engage and involve horseracing fans.”
