Al Tayer Motors sponsors Group 3 Dubai Millennium Stakes

Dubai Gold Cup sponsor in second visit to Meydan Racecourse this season

Dubai: Meydan Pillar Partner, Al Tayer Motors, return to Meydan this Thursday to support a seven-race Dubai World Cup Carnival card highlighted by the Group 3 Dubai Millennium Stakes.

Al Tayer Motors is a regular sponsor of horse racing at Meydan and lends support to the Group 2 $1 million (Dh3.7 million) Dubai Gold Cup on Dubai World Cup day, March 26, 2016.

Al Tayer Motors Chief Executive Officer Ashok Khanna said: “The Dubai World Cup Carnival represents the perfect platform for international and regional trainers and jockeys to prep their horses for races on Dubai World Cup day next month. Being held at the same venue, the event provides an excellent evening of racing action at Meydan Racecourse. We are happy to continue our long-standing association with the Dubai World Cup Carnival and Meydan Group for the 2016 season.”

Malih Al Basti, Meydan Group vice-chairman and Chairman of the Meydan Racing Committee, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Al Tayer Motors back to Meydan Racecourse for the Dubai Millennium Stakes and Bani Yas card in the Dubai World Cup Carnival. Al Tayer Motors has been a long-term supporter of racing in Dubai and will be represented on Dubai World Cup day as the sponsor of the popular Dubai Gold Cup.”

The Dubai Millenium Stakes, a quality contest held at 2000m on the Meydan turf, was won in 2015 by the Godolphin-owned Hunter’s Light, trained by Saeed Bin Surour who went on to claim the Group 1 Jebel Hatta on Super Saturday.

Also on the card is the Group 2 Purebred Arabian race, the 1400m Bani Yas sponsored by Jaguar XE held on the dirt track. This contest was won in 2015 by the Erwan Charpy-trained Manark who won the Group 1 Dubai Kahayla Classic on Dubai World Cup day last year.
