Dubai: Once again the pairing of jockey Pat Dobbs and trainer Doug Watson had something to smile about at the Jebel Ali Racecourse when combining to land the feature event at the Shadwell-sponsored meeting with Alsadeek.

Looking the part of a big-race contender, the five-year-old son of Fasliyev cruised to an authoritative six and a quarter length victory over stable companion Classic Blade, ridden by Tadhg O'Shea, in the six furlong event.

After stalking the pacesetters, Dobbs moved Alsadeek to the clear at the 300-metre mark and the gelding swept to front and won going away. Alsadeek is now four wins from four starts at Jebel Ali.

Watson and Dobbs landed a double at Jebel Ali Racecourse two weeks ago.

Course specialist and Pick Six favourite Maanjal could only finish seventh of ten runners for home trainer Dhruba Selvaratnam.

Competitive field

Selvaratnam, however, was not to be denied and scored a double with Kessraa in the 55-80 handicap and Otaared in the 1,400 metre contest for horses rated 80-105. Both winners were ridden by William Buick.

Otaared, twice successful at this course last season, took on a competitive field and won from Shampagne, ridden by Jesus Rosales for trainer Abdullah Bin Huzaim while World Ruler was third under Dobbs.

Earlier Kessraa edged out the Rosales-ridden Street Talk to win the mile by a gutsy head.

Former champion trainer Satish Seemar's Zabeel Stables maintained their strong start to the season when Rochefort notched his second successive win at Jebel Ali in the 70-95 handicap.

Ridden by Richard Mullen, the son of Red Ransom, won by a length and a half from Brazilian hopeful Okean Mor, ridden by jockey Bruno Reis. Rochefort has been a consistent performer at Jebel Ali having placed second on three occasions in the past. After a frustrating after that saw his runners place second twice and third once trainer Bin Huzaim won the final race on the card, a 50-75 handicap, with Pick Six banker Planetary Motion.

Ridden by Carlos Sandoval, the Jebel Ali specialist, cruised to a seven and a half length victory over Ab Include, ridden by Royston Ffrench. Earlier in the afternoon, French broke not sweat as he partnered Palm Court to bag the opening 60-85 handicap.
