Dubai: The third running of the Chengdu Dubai International Cup took place on Saturday morning and it was definitely a case of business as usual for some of the leading Dubai trainers at Jinma Lake Racecourse.

Musabah Al Muhairi, who had a remarkable Dubai World Cup night double, continued in the same vein. He saddled the winner of the first two races, the Wenjang Sprint with the Xavier Zian-partnered Damar and the Guangsha Handicap with Court Room, ridden by Adrie de Vries .

Another Emirati trainer to have a double was Ismail Mohammad, who visited the winner’s circle with Stamford (Szczepan Mazur) the comfortable winner of the Meydan Handicap and Expert (Marc Monaghan) who got up by a nose in a very tight finish of the Wenjiang Meydan Classic.

Top marks to Monaghan for a great ride and lots of strength on the run to the line.

The main race, The Chengdu Dubai International Cup, was won by Satish Seemar’s Start Right and Richie Mullen.

The race meeting is organised by the Meydan Group, under the Emirates Racing Authority rules of racing (a signatory to the International Federation of Horseracing Authority), in partnership with the Chengdu Municipal Government, the Chengdu Sports Bureau, the Wenjiang District Government and China Guangsha Group, to assist in raising awareness about horse racing in China.

A group of Chinese jockeys were invited along to watch the proceedings as well as a large group of media people from the Asian nation.

One hopes that in time to come we will be able to show coverage of this very interesting and innovative occasion - for after three successful years it surely has a big future.
