Dubai: Horses representing the Ajman Stud and Prince Khalid Bin Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia continued to pick off the top prizes on offer at the Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship.
The Ajman Stud, which was founded by Shaikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuami, Crown Prince of Ajman, won both the prestigious stallion categories with Escape Ibn Navarrone and A.S. Natsir-Apal.
Escape Ibn Navarrone compensated for his defeat in last year's Championship, by winning the competitive Class 11 category for stallions 7-8 years old.
He impressed the competition's four judges to score a high 93.8 points.
A.S. Natsir-Apal scored 91.8 points to win the Class 12 category for Stallions 9 years and over.
Prince Khalid's Purebreds won in the colts category. Marquis Cahr won the Class 8 category for two-year-olds while Moutaz Al Biwaibiya topped the section for three-year-old colts.
Enthusiastic supporter
Shagran Al Nasser, owned by Qatar's Shaikh Nawaf Bin Nasser Al Thani, won the Class 7 category for one-year-old colts. The winner scored an impressive 92 points.
Wathiq Al Khalediah, representing Saudi Arabia's Prince Khalid, was second in the category while Ajman Stud's Al Tarfan was third. The three-day Championship, which is held under the rules and regulations of the European Conference of Arab Horse Organisations (ECAHO), has the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance and Industry, an enthusiastic supporter of the sport. It is a beauty competition for Purebred Arabian horses, from the very young to the elderly statesmen of the Arabian equine world.
