Dubai: Moroccan track-and-field star Hicham Al Guerrouj will deliver the main address at the seventh edition of the Sports Creativity Conference being organised by the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) at the Jumeirah Creekside Hotel on Tuesday.
Guerrouj who still holds world records in the 1,500 metres, mile and outdoor 2,000 metres, is a double gold medallist after shining at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.
Often referred to as the ‘King of the Mile’, Al Guerrouj is scheduled to be the main speaker at the day-long conference, where he is expected to share his journey from the hinterland of Morocco to being a top-level sportsman.
Held under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, the day-long conference is aimed at enhancing the aspect of creativity in the realm of modern-day sport.
The conference will be opened at 9.30 am at the Jumeirah Creekside Hotel by a highly-qualified panel of speakers, including Dr David Magellan Horth, Senior Fellow and Senior Designer at the Hamdan Bin Mohammad e-University and Dr Mansour Al Awar, Chancellor, Hamdan Bin Mohammad e-University.
The conference has been organised with the aim of encouraging top-level achievements in sports while providing fresh and innovative ideas to move sports towards new boundaries in the emirate.
