Dubai: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman, Dubai Sports Council (DSC), has ordered the allocation of a special amount of $135,000 (Dh475,000) for athletes from Middle East participating in Nad Al Sheba Shooting Championship later this month.

The competition will be held under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan at the Nad Al Sheba shooting range with participation from more than 100 shooters from across the world from February 28 to March 5.

With the special allocation for shooters from the region the total prize money for the competition now goes up to $735,000.

Shaikh Ahmad Hasher Al Maktoum, Chairman, Organising Committee stressed that Shaikh Hamdan’s gesture will help raise the level of competition among shooters from Middle East. “The main goal of the competition is to popularise shooting at the grassroots level and I am sure this amount will further encourage our youths to participate,” Shaikh Ahmad said.

Of the total prize money, $600,000 will be for the men’s competitions while another $140,000 will go to the winners in the women’s contests.
