Taichi Kho (HK), the 22 year-old, leads by four shots having played just two holes today (Saturday) of the third round of the $1 million World City Championship presented by the Hong Kong Golf Club on the Asian Tour.
The organisers had to suspend play at 11.48 am local time following lightning and rain as it impacted round three. In the end, play will resume tomorrow (Sunday) at 8.05 am local time and the tournament has been reduced to 54 holes.
Dubai based Jeev Milkha Singh (IND) was two under for his round and five under for the tournament when play was halted. He birdied holes two and eight to move upto tied 11th, with just 10 holes to play.
Jeev told GULF NEWS on completing his round, ‘It rained really heavily and there was lightning. I thought the organisers might try and complete 72 holes, but the forecast tomorrow is for light rain and showers with a moderate breeze, so hopefully everything can be completed by tomorrow close of play. I plan to be aggressive with my game tomorrow, with there being the four spots available for The Open for the top four, who are not already qualified. It would be brilliant to get into The Open being played at Royal Liverpool, and The Senior Open the following week, which is being played at Royal Porthcawl.’
Shiv Kapur (IND) is tied 34th having played 12 holes and was one under for his round.
Only three groups were able to complete their third rounds today, meaning 63 players will be back tomorrow to finish off the tournament.
