Kieran Vincent shot a final round six under par 66 for a 72 hole total of 19 under-par 269 to win the $2 million International Series Vietnam at KN Golf Links, in Cam Ranh, on the south-central coast of Vietnam on the Asian Tour.
Vincent, 25 years-old, started the day in fourth spot, three behind the third round leader Takumi Kanaya (Japan), who shot a final round 73 to drop to tied fourth.
Kieran’s older brother Scott, won the International Series – England in Slaley Hall last year as well as the 2022 International Series Order of Merit, which gave him status on the LIV Golf Tour this year.
Kieran’s round contained six birdies including the crucial one on the par four 18th hole measuring 385 yards.
He won by just one shot from Dubai’s Anirban Lahiri and Kevin Yuan.
Lahiri shot an equal best of the day 64, including eight birdies and he was out in 30, and had ten pars over the other holes. He made the cut by just two shots in tied 34th place and played the weekend in 67 – 64.
Lahiri, the 2015 Asian Tour number one, told GULF NEWS after his round, ‘It was a bit disappointing that I did not take my chances at the end of the round – I finished with four pars and struggled on the birdieable par five 17th. I was especially pleased with my weekend’s work. I’m at looking forward to returning to play on LIV Golf, in Adelaide and then in Singapore over the next couple of weeks. I am hoping to remain in the Top 100 of the Official World Golf Ranking to be eligible to play in the next major, the US PGA Championship in May. It is a busy time of the year, I am happy to be playing well and will take this confidence from this week forward over the next few weeks.’
Lahiri moves up to 12th on the Asian Tour’s International Series Order of Merit and upto 14th on the Asian Tour Order of Merit.
Paul Casey, shot a final round 66 to finish in tied 27th, with his first three rounds of 74, 64 and 72.
The next event on the Asian Tour is from May 4th – 7th with The 42nd GS Caltex Maekyung Open Golf Championship in Korea.
