Viktor Hovland’s final round 61 for BMW Championship

The Norwegian’s 5th PGA Tour victory, as he moves to second place in the FedExCup standing

In a week where Viktor Hovland sealed his spot on Team Europe for the Ryder Cup next month, he added win number five to his CV on the PGA Tour to claim the BMW Championship.

Hovland entered the final round at Olympia Fields three shots back from overnight leaders Scottie Scheffler and Matthew Fitzpatrick who were at 11 under par.

A front nine of two under par was met with a stunning back nine of 28 which included birdies on holes 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17 & 18 to set the course record with a nine under par 61, 17 under total. A score which also gave Hovland the lowest final round score in BMW Championship and FedExCup Playoffs history.

The win for Hovland is his fifth PGA TOUR victory in his 97th start and becomes the ninth multiple winner of the season on the PGA Tour.

The top-30 players in the FedExCup standings after the BMW Championship advance to this week’s TOUR Championship which is led by Scheffler as Hovland jumps up to second spot, with Rory McIlroy in third.

Englishman Fitzpatrick, the two-time DP World Tour Championship winner, is the lucky player to jump into the top 30 with his tied second finish at Olympia Fields.
