Dubai based Alison Muirhead (Scotland) was knocked out in the top 16 of the $60,000 PXG Women’s Match Play at World Golf Village over the Slammer & Squire, St Augustine, Florida, US on the East Coast Women’s Pro Golf Tour.

Muirhead finished tied 8th in the 36 holes strokeplay qualifier with rounds of 69 and 72, then won all of her three matches in the top 64, four player pod nine-hole matches to progress to the top 16 eighteen-hole matchplay rounds.

Alison played Nannette Hill (US) in her Top 16 match.

Alison was one up after six holes, and after a very close encounter with the overall number six seed, was one down after 12 holes and then Alison squared the match with a birdie two on hole 13. The last five holes were all halved leaving the match all square on green 18.

The match progressed to extra holes where Nannette won on hole 20 to progress to the quarter-finals.

Alison shot the equivalent of a gross 70 in her 18 holes.

Alison will now prepare for the LPGA Qualifying School Stage 2. Tomorrow (Monday), along with her mother Jill, Alison will drive across Florida to Venice. Round 1 of rearranged dates of Stage 2 of the LPGA Q-School begins with the first round on Thursday 17th November with Official Practice Rounds on both Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th November. The 72 hole tournament concluding on Sunday 20th November over the Plantation Golf and Country Club. The tournament was originally slated for October 18th – 21st but was moved due to Hurricane Ian.
