The final tournament of the 2021 Ladies’ European Tour (LET) season on the Race to Costa del Sol will take place this week when Spain hosts the €600,000 Andalucia Open de Espana from Thursday to Sunday.

Having recently played events in Dubai and Saudi Arabia, the LET travels to Marbella for its final Order of Merit event of 2021.

The top six of the Order of Merit are competing, with the Race to Costa del Sol title already having been secured by Atthaya Thitikul of Thailand with 3361.95 points with current second place on 1909.89 from Pia Babnik of Slovenia.

Some 72 players are entered in the field which includes eight sponsor invites and the balance of the 64 player field taken from the Order of Merit Rankings.

Thitikul will be officially crowned the 2021 Race to Costa del Sol champion at the end of this week’s tournament having played in 16 events, won two and had 13 top 10 finishes. Thitikul also lies second in the 2021 Money List with €566,042.02 behind Anna Nordqvist, who is not playing this week.

She takes over the crown won in 2020 by Dane Emily Kristine Pedersen.

Other stand out players in the field include JA The Resort Ambassador Olivia Cowan, a friend of JA The Resort Kelsey MacDonald, Dubai based Alison Muirhead, Morocco’s Maha Haddioui, India’s Aditi Ashok, Caroline Hedwall of Sweden and double winning Solheim Cup European Captain Catriona Matthew. The draw for round one has been published with a two-tee start on Thursday with Alison Muirhead teeing off tee 10 at 12.20pm. The three leaders in the Race to Costa del Sol tee off last from the first tee: Thitikul, Babnik and Sanna Nuutinen of Finland.
