Jordan’s Mousa Shana’ah shot a 54-hole score of 233 to win the first event of the Oman International Amateur Golf Tour season held at Ghala Golf Club, Muscat, Oman.

After two rounds, home hope Azzan Al Rumhy led by one shot from Shana’ah, with another local player Bader Al Amri a further shot back and Denmark’s Peter Leggard fourth.

On the final day, Shana’ah pulled clear with a 75 to take the title by two shots, from Al Rumhy and Leggard.

This tournament is part of a vision to host 54-hole golf tournaments for juniors and adults in the region and to award world amateur golf ranking points, as well as being part of both the global junior golf rankings and junior scoreboard rankings.

Shana’ah said: “It was great to win this event in Oman as it was challenging, especially with the strong winds over the first two days. Special thanks to the organisers and Ghala Golf Club for hosting and organising this event, the Ghala course was in very good condition. It was also a little special to win, as it came on my mother’s birthday. Happy birthday Mom, I gift you my win.’

One of the highlights of the day was a hole-in-one by Suhai Al Royal on Hole 2.

The next event on the Junior Series is on March 18-20 at Tower Links Golf Club, Ras Al Khaimah.
