Dubai: This week sees another strong week on the worlds’ golf tours, as the golf year comes close to its 2022 end and the UAE-based players are competing on the Tours this week.

Dubai Golden Visa Awardee, Shiv Kapur is playing on the Asian Tour in Taipei for the second consecutive week in the $1 million Mercuries Taiwan Masters at the Taiwan Golf and Country Club. “I was four days in quarantine, prior to last week’s tournament, which took place in a Covid bubble and this week we are still being tested daily for Covid, and in fact one player was disqualified last week for breaking the bubble. Covid is still being taken seriously here,” Indian ace Kapur said.

Unusual start

Adrian Meronk will be filing his daily diary from the $5 million Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on the DP World Tour involving its unique Pro-Am format with both individual Pro and Pro-Am team events, one Pro and one Amateur forming the Team played over three courses: Old Course St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns. Let’s hope the weather in Scotland is kind for Adrian and all the players.

Adrian has a tee time on Wednesday at 9.55am on the Old Course, St Andrews, from Tee 10 playing alongside Frenchman Matthieu Pavon. Tee 10 is an unusual start for players and hole 9 is even stranger as a finishing hole.

Day two on Friday will see Adrian off in the first tee time of the day at 9am on Carnoustie Golf Links with Francesco Laporta of Italy, and his final round on Saturday at Kingsbarns at 10.28am alongside another Frenchman Victor Dubuisson.

Shevchenko in the group

There will then be a cut after three rounds, with the final round again being played on the Old Course, St Andrews.

Adrian’s Amateur playing partner for at least three days and three rounds is Ukrainian football legend Andriy Shevchenko, who has played for Dynamo Kiev, AC Milan, Chelsea and the Ukraine National Team.

Adrian said from St Andrews: “I have played with Andriy before, he is a decent golfer and good company. We are in for a fun week with so many good friends and celebrities in the wider group.”

A strong field has been assembled in Scotland, including, Rory McIlroy, Matt Fitzpatrick, Shane Lowry, Tommy Fleetwood, Francesco Molinari, last week’s winner in France Guido Migliozzi, home favourite Robert MacIntyre, and UAE based players: Rafa Cabrera Bello, Nicolas Colsaerts, Adrian Otaegui, David Horsey and senior golfer Padraig Harrington, returning to the DP World after his continued success on the Champions Tour in the US.
