Callum Shinkwin (Eng) shot a third round, equal best of the day, six under par, 65 to take a one shot lead into the final round tomorrow (Sunday) of the €1.75 million Cazoo Open supported by Gareth Bale on the DP World Tour.

Shinkwin was two back of the 36 hole leader Julien Guerrier (Fr) after 36 holes, and shot a seven birdie, one bogey 65, over the 7,503 yards, par 71, Twenty Ten Course at The Celtic Manor Resort.

Shinkwin said on completing his round, “I’m delighted, 65 was a really good score today. I’m playing really well and didn’t make any mistakes and I’ve come out of it with the lead. The game has been very good for a long time but it was just a matter of clicking into place."

Playing nicely

He added, "It felt like it was great three months ago but the results weren’t there. Recently, I’ve been playing really nicely and had a few pretty good results but not capitalising on how I’m playing. The last couple of weeks I’ve been capitalising on it and holing a few putts and not making too many mistakes. I never really paid any attention to what Julien was doing, although he was playing really well, I just tried to make sure I played my own ball and my own game, and whatever I shot, I shot and that’s what I did and towards the end I took the lead. It would mean everything to win, a win any time anywhere is fantastic and to do it while I’m playing really well would be great.”

Guerrier shot a steady 68, with four birdies and a solitary bogey on hole 16.

Third place is six shots behind the leader, unless either the leading two players falter or there is a big move from the pack.

A player to make a move on ‘Moving Day’ was Englishman Paul Waring with a 65 to move upto tied fourth.

The final round takes place tomorrow (Sunday) with the leaders out last in threeballs at 10.16 am local Wales time. Dubai Sports TV will be showing LIVE TV coverage of the Cazoo Open on the DP World Tour at 1.30 pm tomorrow (Sunday), UAE time.
