'I did not find enough fairways. It was one of the worst weeks with my driver'

Today was the final round of the 54 hole LIV Golf Invitational Jeddah, here at Royal Green Golf & Country Club.
I started on tee 3 in the shotgun start.
I opened up modestly with birdies on holes four and eight and another one on the 10th with the rest pars to be three under par after eight holes.
I then fell out of my rhythm with a bogey – bogey - double run, on holes 11, 12 and 13.
I was crying on the back nine with that 30 minute blow up.
The greens were a little quicker today and the wind was certainly the strongest of the week.
The scores flattened out on the leaderboard and made the back nine play very tough.
I then steadied the ship with a run of five pars.
I then arrived on tee one wanting something to happen on my last two holes and it certainly did.
I holed my second shot from 106 yards with a gap wedge for an eagle two on the 361 yard first hole. I played the shot for 121 yards, it just shows the strength of the wind. It was such a relief after the back nine bloodbath.
On my final hole of the day, the second, I just missed the fairway and it is tough to get the ball close from the rough and I settled for a par four.
I shot a final round one under par 69 to finish on eight under par. With my first two rounds of 67 and 66.
I did not find enough of the fairways this week. It was one of the worst weeks with my driver all year for me.
I could have done even better, but the majority of the other 47 players in the field will probably say the same, but on reflection I have been swimming against the tide with so many distractions, especially my health earlier in the week.
I would have taken a tied 10th finish at the start of the week!
Off now to see the family in Florida for a few days and then off to Miami for the Team Championship at the end of the month. I am feeling better today, but still not 100%.
Our Crushers GC of Bryson DeChambeau, Paul Casey, Charles Howell III and myself are second in the Team season standings after this week, so we have a bye in the first round and have the second choice of our opponents.
The team element has taken more importance as the season has progressed and now the Individual Rankings are concluded the Miami LIV Invitational Team Event takes centre stage. We are chuffed to get on the Team podium this week in third place, well done the Crushers!
I have enjoyed sharing my Gulf News Daily Diary with you all and see you in Dubai in early November with my family and the removal vans as I now make Dubai my permanent home.
