Today, ‘Moving Day,’ I shot a third round two under par 68 for a three-round total of five under par 205 in the €2 million Omega European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre in Switzerland on the DP World Tour.

We finished the second round early this morning and the cut fell at three under par, and I squeezed in on the mark. Phew!

There was a quick turn around and in the third round I was paired with Australia’s Dimitrios Papadatos and France’s Jean-Baptiste Gonnet who are 245 and 267 respectively in the 2021 – 2022 DP World Tour Rankings, with a 12.40 pm tee time off Tee 10 in Match 11.

Bogey 5

My third round started with a bogey 5 on my second hole of the day, the 11th, but I managed five birdies and two further bogeys to move upto tied 51st place.

The leader after 54 holes is my partner for the first two rounds, 25 year-old South African Thriston Lawrence who has impressed everyone with 18 birdies and an eagle so far.

He has a three-shot lead on 17 under par going into the final round trying to get his second victory of the season and his DP World Tour career following his win in the Joburg Open, the first event of the season that was reduced to 36 holes through inclement weather.

There seems to be a lot of talk amongst the players about the OWGR for the DP World Tour events since the change in the Rankings to a more ‘Strength of Field’ basis earlier this month.

Long term

This week the winner in Switzerland will receive 16.04 OWGR points, compared to 38.44 to the winner on the PGA Tour at the Tour Championship and 20.23 to the winner on Korn Ferry Tour. As players, we are all patient and we will see how the numbers all settle in the longer term, especially with some stronger events on the DP World Tour coming up on the calendar over the next few weeks.

I am 12 shots back of the leader, too many to be in the mix, but I will do my best to have four consecutive sub-70 rounds and hopefully hand in my best round of the week.

Wish me luck and speak to you all after the last round tomorrow evening.
