Glasgow: Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said he was proud of his side’s defensive performance as they defeated second-place Aberdeen 3-1 on Friday to maintain their unbeaten run and hit 100 points.

The champions raced into a three-goal lead at Pittodrie after just 11 minutes thanks to quickfire goals from Dedryck Boyata, Stuart Armstrong and Leigh Griffiths.

However, Jonny Hayes pulled one backed a minute later to inspire an Aberdeen revival with the Dons spurning a number of opportunities to reduce the deficit. Rodgers, whose side moved 30 points clear of the Dons as they reached the 100 point mark in the Scottish Premiership, was happy to see his side dig deep defensively to seal their 44th match unbeaten this season.
