Readers predict Euro 2016 winners

Gulf News conducted an online poll asking readers: ‘Which team will win Euro 2016?’ It was based on our latest reports on the UEFA European Championship published in the Sport section, on July 4.

The reports refer to France’s easy win against Iceland, defeating ‘the nation that melted the world’s hearts’ 5-2 in the quarter-final on Sunday.

Poll results show that Germany is a clear favourite amongst respondents, with 6 out of 10 predicting it will win. They performed admirably in a gruelling match against Italy, ultimately winning via a 6-5 penalty shootout.

France is the second favourite, with votes from 2 out of 10 respondents. This is interesting given Germany will be facing France in the semi-finals, meaning just one can continue to the finals against either Portugal or Wales.
