Liverpool: Liverpool, a vibrant city in North West England, is widely regarded as the music capital of the world.
However, the city that gave the world unquestionably one of the best and most influential bands in rock ‘n’ roll history, The Beatles, is now dancing to the music of a total different craftsman — a footballer.
Ever since Mohammad Salah joined the club from Roma in June 2017 for a then record fee of $49 million, the Egyptian wizard has had all Liverpudlians singing his praise.
In what has been an outstanding debut season, the industrious and tactically brilliant striker has scored 41 goals from 49 appearances overall for ‘The Res’ and has astonishingly had a role in 50 other strikes.
So, where he tells CNN’s Becky Anderson during an exclusive interview that ‘there’s something very special about playing for Liverpool,’ you know what he means.
Last Tuesday, it was a goal from his magical boot that helped Jurgen Klopp’s team won 2-1 and 5-1 on aggregate against Manchester City to reach the Champions League semi-finals.
“The Champions League nights are special for the fans too. You can feel it on the streets,” he says on CNN.
The Egyptian also revealed that he still kept in touch with his friends in Italy. “It’s my old club (Roma). I love the fans there and they love me, too,” he said.
“I still talk to most of the players there. We were very close to each other and we are good friends.
“Of course, I have happy memories. We played together for two years and were fighting together in all the games. We had a good time in the dressing room.”
