Dubai: Al Wasl goalkeeper Majid Nasser has apologised to his club and manager after venting frustration with his teammates in a post-match interview after his side's 2-1 league loss to Dubai last Thursday.

With Diego Maradona's side now seventh in the table on 12 points from ten games, another 12 points adrift of leaders Al Ain, the mood in the camp has suffered a seismic shift from the earlier hope installed by their star manager.

Nasser blasted his teammates after the match and reportedly threatened to leave the club if things didn't change soon.

Bored of losing

Criticising his team for their poor performances under Maradona, Nasser added: "I'm getting bored of losing. If this situation continues, I hope the club lets me go. If the fans want entertainment, they should watch Al Ain. I think we've lost the opportunity to compete for the league."

Goals from Aboubacar Camara and newly signed Abbas Ahmad Atwi [in for Nabeel Daoudi] cancelled out Olivera's earlier penalty to dump a fourth league loss on the lap of the Zabeel outfit.

Chairman Marwan Bin Bayat confirmed after the game that Maradona would stay until the duration of his two-year contract and a club spokesperson said yesterday that Nasser's outburst had been dealt with internally and that the player would remain at Al Wasl under the coach.

Al Wasl's spokesperson said: "Nasser said a few things he shouldn't have done after the game. But everything is done and dusted now. He has apologised to the coach and the club and we're ready to move on from this matter. He is not leaving Al Wasl."

Legend's response

Maradona said after the game: "What my players did on the pitch was the opposite of what was asked of them, and although I'm not happy about it, I assure that I will not leave the team because I have a contract running for two years and I respect that. People at the club are great, they trust me and I trust them. I will work hard with determination to remedy the mistakes and restore the triumphs for a better future."
