Lionel Messi hit by bottle thrown by fan in Barcelona match at Valencia

Dubai: Lionel Messi was hit on the head by a bottle thrown by a fan during Barcelona's 1-0 win over Valencia on Sunday night.

The Argentine star was clearly shaken by the incident, which happened as he was celebrating Sergio Busquets' late winner in the La Liga fixture at Mestalla.

Barcelona inflicting Valencia's first home defeat of the season and moved within two points of Real madrid at the top of the table with the crucial victory.

It was a bad day for Spanish football, as earlier a Deportivo la Coruna fan died in violent clashes before Atletico Madrid’s 2-0 win over the Galicians.
