Dubai: T-shirts signed by Diego Maradona and mobile phones will be raffled off in between Group E matches at Al Ahli Club’s Rashid Stadium in Al Ghusais on Saturday.
Canada will take on Austria in the first match at 5pm followed by Iran facing Argentina at 8pm in the two matches on Saturday.
“Adidas has supplied us with T-shirts and Maradona has willingly signed them in his capacity as the sports ambassador of Dubai,” Dr. Ahmad Sa’ad Al Sharif, General Secretary, Dubai Sports Council (DSC), and member of the Local Organising Committee, told Gulf News here.
“We want this tournament to be a true experience for all fans who want to attend matches that are being held in Dubai. So we decided to throw in something additional to help attract fans for the matches,” he added.
Tickets are free at all six venues for this three-week football extravaganza. Spectators need to just turn up at the main gate and pick up their tickets to enter the stadium. “We want residents to avail of this opportunity to come and witness some great action from some of the stars of the future. The weather in the evening is also very pleasant and that will only help create a great atmosphere at the venue,” Dr. Sharif said.
