Al Wasl take league title with big win

Dubai: Al Wasl achieved a historic double by adding the first division league title to the President's Cup when they beat Dubai Club 6-2 at the Maktoum Bin Rashid Stadium here last night.

Al Wasl clinched the title with 47 points while Al Wahda could only draw 1-1 with Al Nasr to stay runners up with 43 points. Brazilian Anderson scored a hattrick for Al Wasl. Salah Abbas, Khalid Darwish and Faisal Salim completed the rout.

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, presented the trophy to Al Wasl skipper Tariq Darwish.
