Yuzvendra Chahal-Dhanashree Verma divorce: Legal proceedings underway, lawyer dismisses rumours

Dubai: Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife, choreographer Dhanashree Verma, have filed for divorce, with legal proceedings currently underway. Speculation about their separation had been circulating for some time, fuelled by cryptic social media posts from both Chahal and Dhanashree. However, while various India media reports suggested that the divorce was already finalised, Dhanashree’s lawyer dismissed such claims.

“The matter is sub judice, and I have no comments to make on the proceedings. However, I urge the media to verify facts before reporting, as a significant amount of misleading information is being spread,” Dhanashree’s lawyer, Aditi Mohan, said in a statement on Friday.

Additionally, reports alleging that Dhanashree demanded ₹60 crore ($7 million) as alimony were strongly refuted by her family. In a statement, they called the claims ‘completely baseless,’ urging the media to act responsibly and respect the privacy of those involved.

Chahal and Dhanashree tied the knot in December 2020. While the situation continues to attract public attention, both parties have remained tight-lipped, choosing not to make any official statements regarding their separation.
