Abu Dhabi : Pankaj Samant stroked a breezy 83 for Abu Dhabi Indian School (ADIS) to emerge convincing 93-run winners over Sunrise English Private School in the Lifebuoy inaugural Abu Dhabi inter-school cricket tournament opening Under 16 game at the Zayed Stadium on Thursday.

ADIS, sent in to bat first, were helped by some sloppy fielding and made 234 for five in the allotted 25 overs.

Bowled out

In reply, Sunrise were bowled out for 141 in 23.2 overs with the ADIS captain Denver Bopaiah and Elton D'Souza taking three wickets each.

Samant hit 11 boundaries in his 72-ball knock and shared an 83-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Shreyas Suresh, who struck 25 off 22 deliveries.

Zakir Hussain was the icing the cake in the Indian school inning with a quick-fire 33 not out from 16 deliveries, studded with three fours and a six.

Sunrise captain and opener Omar Mohammad was the mainstay of his team.

He shared a 58-run stand for the second wicket with Arjun Rajagopalan (16) and was sixth out for 37, bowled by Man of the Match Samant.
