Sharjah: Danube Lions skipper CTK Mashood produced a deadly five-wicket spell to ensure an emphatic six-wicket win over a strong Phoenix Medicines in the 39th Bukhatir League A Division tournament, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council.

Left-arm spinner Mashood has inspired many teams to title triumphs in UAE domestic cricket and now, as captain of the newly-formed Danube team, he once again displayed his ability by taking five for 23 in 8.3 overs to bowl Phoenix out for just 145 runs.

Riding on Prashant Braggs’ innings of 48 with five fours and a six, Danube won in 35.3 overs.

The other top performance of the week came from young Renaldi Dias of Desert Cubs Cricket Academy (DCCA) in the Sharjah Cricket Council’s Inter-Academy Under-16 tournament.

Dias guided DCCA to successive victories, scoring an unbeaten 41 in his team’s ten-wicket win over Young Talents Cricket Academy and then hitting an unconquered 49 to ensure an eight-wicket victory over Al Madina Cricket Academy.

The ongoing 14th edition of the Skyline Cup Inter-University cricket tournament saw hosts Skyline’s openers put up a whopping 270 runs for no loss against American University of Dubai (AUD). Salman Babar cracked unbeaten 152 and Abdullah Azhar 101 not out.

Restricting AUD to just 108 in reply, Skyline won by 162 runs.

In Dubai’s Sindhi Premier League, Rahul Chattwani of Petrochem Sindhi Kings produced yet another superb all-round show to give his team a five-wicket win over Neel Mighty Sindhis. Chattwani bagged five wickets for just 22 runs and then hit an unbeaten 31.

Kuwait Dashers are on a winning run in the Desert Premier League. They trounced Infoquest by 134 runs and recorded an emphatic ten-wicket win over Emal Red Warriors.
