Dubai: The narrow lanes of Dubai’s Gold Souk echoed with chants of “Rohit, Rohit” as hundreds of fans swarmed the area, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Indian skipper. As he navigated through the bustling marketplace, the excitement in the air was unmistakable — Rohit Sharma wasn’t just shopping for gold; he was proving to be the city’s hottest attraction.

Massive crowd

Amid India’s dominant run in the Champions Trophy, Rohit Sharma took time off to visit Dubai’s famous Gold Souk, and the news spread like wildfire. Within minutes, fans flooded the marketplace, lining the streets and chanting his name.

Despite the frenzy, Rohit, known for his calm demeanour on the field, smoothly made his way through the crowd, offering a wave before reaching his destination.

Team India enjoys downtime

With no official practice session scheduled before next Sunday’s final group game against New Zealand, Indian players have been making the most of their downtime. Some spent time in the gym and swimming pool at their hotel, while others took a trip to Dubai Mall.

Meanwhile, a video of Rohit Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav at a street food outlet in Dubai has gone viral, adding to the buzz surrounding the team’s presence in the city.

India’s resurgence continues

Since returning from a tough tour of Australia, India has been on a dominant run in white-ball cricket. They defeated England 4-1 in the T20 format and swept to a 3-0 win in the ODIs. The twin victories in Dubai have reinforced their standing as strong contenders for the Champions Trophy, reigniting fan enthusiasm.

With the semi-finals on the horizon, Rohit and his men will look to maintain their momentum and keep the celebrations going.
