Gaddafi Stadium’s stunning makeover unveiled for Champions Trophy

Dubai: As the countdown to the Champions Trophy begins, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has given fans a glimpse of the newly revamped Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore — a stunning backdrop for the much-anticipated tournament. With lights set to illuminate the iconic venue, excitement is reaching a fever pitch as teams and fans prepare for a spectacle unlike any other.

“Unveiling the stunning new-look Gaddafi Stadium! Under the lights, it’s a sight to behold! ONE WORD to describe your excitement after seeing this breathtaking view? We can’t wait to welcome fans, officials, and teams for the tri-nation series & #ChampionsTrophy,” PCB posted on X on Thursday, dispelling rumours surrounding the stadium’s status.

The Champions Trophy will be held in a hybrid format, with India playing their matches in Dubai, which will also host one semi-final. Karachi will host the tournament opener between Pakistan and New Zealand on February 19, with the final scheduled for March 25.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently announced the sale of tickets for the Champions Trophy, which went on sale on Tuesday. Fans are eagerly awaiting the highly anticipated match between Asian giants India and Pakistan.

“Ticket information for the India matches to be played in Dubai on February 20, 23, and March 2 will follow shortly,” an ICC statement added.

Tickets for the final, to be played on March 9, will be available for purchase following the conclusion of the first semi-final in Dubai.

The thrilling two-week competition will see the world’s top eight teams put it all on the line in 15 intense matches over 19 days, with every match counting in the pursuit of the iconic white jackets.
