Dubai: Mohammad Nabi has bowled to the biggest names in world cricket — but none made him prouder than the teenager who hit him for six on Tuesday: his own son.

In a heartwarming moment during a Shpageeza Cricket League match at the Kabul International Stadium, Nabi’s son Hassan Eisakhil opened the innings for Amo Sharks and greeted his father with a six off the very first ball.

The moment drew laughter and delight from the crowd, especially when the on-air commentator jokingly remarked: “He is your father, treat him with respect!” The line quickly went viral, capturing the light-hearted spirit of the rare father-son showdown.

Fluent half-century

Eisakhil, 18, went on to score a fluent 52 off 36 balls before being bowled by Khalil Gurbaz. The right-handed opener, who represented Afghanistan in the 2024 ICC Under-19 World Cup, had also played a key role in Amo Sharks’ previous win with a brisk 35 off 22 deliveries.

Amo Sharks were eventually bowled out for 162 in 19.4 overs.

The 2025 edition of the Shpageeza Cricket League began on July 19, with the league stage running until July 30. The final will be played on August 1, with all matches held at the Kabul International Stadium.

Nabi, one of Afghanistan’s most iconic cricketers, has often expressed his dream of one day sharing the national jersey with his son. Judging by Hassan’s progress, that day may not be too far away.
