First blow

Prithvi Solanki struck the first blow by clean bowling opener Arvind for 1.

One-down Abishek and Kurt put on 60 runs for the second wicket.

Siddarth of DPS struck twice. He first trapped Abhisekh leg before for 23 and then went on to clean bowl the consistent Chirag Suri for 6.

Kurt went on to hit 59 before being bowled by Yash. Middle order batsmen Ajay Ghosal and Chirag Makhija hit 15 runs each and Dubai Modern school piled up 145 for 8 in the allotted 20 overs.

DPS began the chase on a good note. Their openers Prithvi Solanki and Siddharth put on 39 runs before Chirag bowled Siddharth for 6. Yash joined Prithvi and the pair put on another 39 runs for the second wicket. Though Dubai Modern School bowlers did not get any wickets, they bowled a tight length and slowed down the run flow.

DPS reached the half way mark only by the 14th over and they needed to score 74 runs in six overs.

Meanwhile, Prithvi, who looked all set for a half century was stumped off the bowling of Akash for 46.

Wali and Siddhanth tried their best but could not accelerate the run flow.

Wali remained unbeaten on 15 while Siddhanth hit an unconquered 28.

Excellent fielding

Talking to Gulf News, Shafiq Ahmad, the coach of the Dubai Modern School said: "We have won this tournament mainly due to our team's excellent fielding. Along with the training of the techniques, I make sure they improve the fielding too. This helped us to check the run flow."

Ahmad is the coach and the elder brother of UAE national team captain Arshad Ali.

"We practice at the Dubai Cricket Council grounds regularly. This victory is also the result of our team's continuous training. We hope to do well in the coming inter school tournaments too," added Ahmad.
