Choreographer visits childhood city, shares serene moments, days after cricketer’s podcast
Dubai: Life after heartbreak often leads people back to their roots — and that’s exactly where Dhanashree Verma has returned. Days after her ex-husband Yuzvendra Chahal spoke publicly for the first time about their divorce, the choreographer and influencer shared a heartfelt post from Dubai, the city where she grew up.
In a series of Instagram photos posted on Monday, Dhanashree was seen exploring familiar cityscapes, enjoying ice cream and spaghetti at the Ibn Battuta Mall, and pausing for a moment of reflection in front of the Hindu temple in Jebel Ali. Dressed simply in a white shirt and black pants, she wore a calm expression in all the photos — a striking contrast to the online buzz surrounding her recent past.
Her accompanying note was steeped in nostalgia.
“Back in Dubai after what feels like a lifetime… Growing up here gave me so many core memories, and seeing how much the city has evolved was both surreal and heartwarming,” she wrote. “One of the highlights was visiting this beautiful Hindu temple — peaceful, powerful, and a reminder of how far this city has come in embracing culture and community.”
The post marked Dhanashree’s first public update since Chahal’s revealing appearance on a podcast with Raj Shamani last week, where the Indian leg-spinner addressed the emotional toll of their separation.
“We were very different people,” Chahal said, while stressing that they had been trying to make it work for almost two years. “We didn’t want to bring it into the public domain until everything was final.”
The cricketer also addressed the viral moment during their final divorce hearing, when he wore a T-shirt reading “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy.” Chahal said it was a deliberate choice: “I just wanted to give one message — and I did.”
The couple, who married in December 2020, had reportedly been living separately since mid-2022 and finalised their divorce earlier this year. The Bombay High Court granted their separation in March 2025, just ahead of the IPL season.
While Chahal chose candour and symbolism to communicate his version of events, Dhanashree has so far let her pictures and captions speak for her. Her Dubai post, steeped in gratitude and quiet self-reflection, appears to be less about making a statement — and more about reconnecting with a version of herself far away from the spotlight.
