Dav Model School steals the show with CBSE championship title

Hosts Indian High School clinch third place in under-14 team event

Dubai: Dav Model School from Chandigarh, India stole the thunder in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) National Tennis Championship hosted by the Indian High School, Dubai

They won the team championship in boys under-14 and under-19 events.

In the girls' under-14 competition, Delhi Private School (DPS) Hyderabad won the team championship while the under-19 team champion's title was bagged by Little Angel School, Sonipat. Over 200 tennis players from India and the Middle East played in this championship.

Participants

The competition attracted the participation of 64 teams from CBSE schools from India (two teams from the five zones from India and one team each from the Gulf countries).

In the individual championship girls' under-14 event Gunuganti Sruta Kirti of DPS Hyderabad emerged champion with Rikeetha Pereira of Indian High School, Dubai finishing as the runner-up.

The under-19 individual championship was won by Himani Mor of Little Angel School while Sonali Bansal of Carmel Convent School, Chandigarh finishing runner-up.

The boy's Under-14 individual title was won by Suresh Gokul of Padma Seshadri Chennai while Arjun Ramakrishnan of Dav Mogappair finished runner-up. The Under-19 individual title went to Digvijay of Dav Model, Chandigarh while I.B. Akshay of Jawahar Higher Secondary School, Tamil Nadur finished runner-up.

The Indian High School finished third in the Under-14 team championship through Rikeetha Pereira, Rhea Rose John and Divya Guwalani. In the contest for the third place the Indian High School beat DLF from Ghaziabad 2-0.

Rikeetha defeated Poorva 7-0 while Rhea Navreeti 7-1 to record a clean sweep.
