Dubai: With new teams representing different districts of Kerala joining the fray, the draw for the third edition of the Kerala Premier League (KPL) was held under the supervision of Dubai Cricket Council (DCC) officials at the India Club over the weekend.
Twelve leading UAE teams are competing in the tournament and all were represented at the draw, which was conducted by KPL Director Thomas Philip with Shoeb Muljiani, DCC convenor of special projects, and Shiva Pagarani, DCC convenor of finance and administration.
The latest team to join the fray was Danube, representing Idukki, who won the UAE’s two A-division tournaments this season.
“We are delighted to take part in a tournament that has lifted the profile of UAE domestic cricket by rewarding cricketers and teams with huge prize money,” said Anis Sajan, Managing Director of Danube, who were one of the sponsors of the second edition of the KPL.
The opening match will take place on Friday, October 17, from 7.30pm at the International Cricket Council (ICC) Academy Oval ground.
The top four teams from each of the two groups will qualify for the quarter-finals. The last-eight matches will be held on November 14 and the semi-finals on November 15. The final will be on November 21.
