Dubai Women’s Run on November 8
Organisers expecting more than 5,000 to register this year
Dubai: The UAE Athletics Federation (UAE AF) is gearing up for its fourth Dubai Women’s Run, to be held on November 8.
Held under the patronage of Shaikh Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE National Olympic Committee (UAE NOC), last year’s race had in excess of 4,500 entrants.
“We are expecting more than 5,000 entrants for the 2013 run,” said Ahmad Al Kamali, IAAF Council Member and UAE AF President.
Also being incorporated this year are the 10km and 5km races.
“We want to help inspire women to discover the positive power of exercise and help them make physical activity an everyday part of their life,” Al Kamali said.
“We want to help to create positive role models. We want women and girls to be surrounded by words and pictures championing fit and healthy women. We want to take part in creating a culture where fit and healthy women are celebrated and more women feel inspired to take part,” stated Event Director Liesa Euton.
Entry fee is Dh100 per head and registration for the annual run can be done at www.dubaiwomensrun.com.
