Dubai: Superb bowling performances were the highlight in Dubai’s Asianet Premier League. Danube Lions’ Aamir Hyatt produced one of the finest spells in recent Twenty20 matches on the domestic circuit.

Hyatt came away with figures of three overs, two maidens, four runs and four wickets that destroyed the batting line-up of the University of Wollongong. Hyatt was well backed by Emaad Ali, who too bagged four wickets, giving away just 13 runs.

In the Kids Premier League 40-over tournament for boys under 15 organised by Durham UAE, Al Ain’s young Mridul Manoj bagged four wickets for 22 runs and helped DHH Spero XI down Durham by 43 runs. Manoj also hit 24 runs.

Hyatt also produced an all-round performance in Danube’s win at the Dubai Rugby Sevens ground. He hit a quickfire 23 in Danube’s total of 180 for 7 from their 20 overs after opener Ashfaq Ahmad hit 61 runs from only 37 balls with two sixes and seven boundaries and Imran Mohammad chipped in with an unbeaten 44. Wollongong were bowled out for 74 runs in 18 overs.

In a Group A match, Yasir Kaleem struck a half-century in Red Flowers Tourism’s 33 runs win over City Target Group. City Target’s Saqib Azeem fought a lone battle with 62 from 39 balls (2x6, 5x4) in his team’s total of 143 for 9. Red Flowers had posted 176 for 6.

Team Interface did well to overhaul Rig Power Technical Construction’s total of 136 by seven wickets. Rig Power’s Qasim Mohammad (65) and Rizwan Sadiq (25) gave their team a defendable total, but man of the match Rameez Shahzad (34 n.o.), Mohammad Ibthisam (30) and Farhan Babar (27) took their team home in 18.5 overs.

Meanwhile, the Umm Al Quwain Gold Cup, held in Umm Al Quwain, produced super batting performances. Naseeb Ullah and Jarnail Singh hit half-centuries to ensure Union Real Estate and Al Badar Club big victories. Renjith M Ramanchennath of Thrissur Tigers hit 149 runs but his ton went in vain.
