Newly engaged couple Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas celebrated their betrothal with close family and celebrity friends at a party that continued into the early hours.

Following their pre-wedding ‘roka’ or engagement ceremony early on Saturday, the couple danced the night away with the Ambanis and some of the biggest Bollywood stars, including Alia Bhatt and Parineeti Chopra.

Jonas’s parents, who flew down to Mumbai for the ceremony, also attended the party with Chopra’s mother Madhu and brother Siddharth at the actress’ residence.

Chopra’s cousin Parineeti and Siddharth Roy Kapur, producer of the former’s new film The Sky is Pink, were among the first guests to arrive at the party.

Bhatt, along with Anusha Dandekar, Mukesh Ambani, Nita Ambani and Isha Ambani also came to congratulate the couple, as did directors Vishal Bhardwaj, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Siddharth Anand.

Salman Khan’s sister Arpita Khan Sharma also attended with her husband Aayush Sharma and writer Mushtaq Shaikh.

Popular DJ Khushi provided the music as the guests enjoyed the night. In videos shared on social media, Chopra, 36, is seen dancing away while Jonas, 25, is seen shaking his head to the music.

WHIRLWIND ROMANCE

The engagement ending months of speculation about the two stars’ relationship.

Both Chopra and Jonas declared their love for each other on their Instagram pages after the ceremony.

“Taken with all my heart and soul,” wrote Chopra on her Instagram, posting a picture with Jonas.

Jonas also shared the same picture on Instagram, calling Chopra the “Future Mrs Jonas. My heart. My love.”

The couple, who have been very private about their relationship, have not announced a date for their wedding.

“The puja [ceremony] started a little over 10.30am [9am UAE time] and it lasted for about four hours. We performed Grah Shanti, Ganesh Puja, Aarti and havan. It was done for their peace and well being. They both looked very nice together. We just wish them a long and happy life,” the priest Kamal Kumar Mishra said.

“Nick is a very humble person. He just followed the rituals. Priyanka used to explain things to him,” he added.

In the first photos from the ceremony, Chopra and Jonas were seen in traditional Indian clothes.

A photo from the ceremony showed the couple standing in front of backdrop bearing their initials.

Chopra wore a yellow Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla salwar suit, while Jonas wore a ivory kurta for the occasion.

Jonas’ parents, Denise Miller-Jonas and Paul Kevin Jonas, also opted for Indian wear.

Jonas arrived with his parents in Mumbai on Thursday and they were received by Chopra at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.

A night before the engagement, the couple went for a dinner along with their families.

Jonas reportedly proposed to Chopra on her birthday in July this year.

The actress, who is currently in Mumbai to shoot for Shonali Bose’s film The Sky is Pink, was spotted wearing her engagement ring at designer Manish Malhotra’s party recently.

The duo sparked dating speculation when they were photographed at multiple dates over the US Memorial Day weekend.

Later that month, Jonas met Chopra’s family in June and spent quality time with them in Goa. The couple also posed for photographers during the engagement party of Mukesh Ambani’s son Akash.

But it is for the first time that parents from both the sides are meeting.

Jonas had already introduced Chopra to his family members when she had attended the wedding of his cousin in the US.
