Two accused in Ahmedabad blasts arrested

Mumbai: Maharashtra's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) officers yesterday gunned down a suspected terrorist wanted in the 2008 Ahmedabad blasts case in the Delhi Gate area of Aurangabad. Two other accused in the same case were arrested.

The deceased was identified as Khalil Khilji, 20, while police gave the names of the arrested duo as Mohammad Abrar Shaikh and Mohammad Shakheel. A policeman, Arif Shaikh was wounded in the encounter.

Acting on a tip-off, an ATS team was dispatched to the Delhi Gate area. However, the suspected terrorists opened fire on the team leading to retaliatory action, resulting in Khilji's death on the spot.

Police said all the suspects owed allegiance to the Abu Faisal group from Madhya Pradesh.
