Dubai: A new 150-bed hospital offering affordable care in Sharjah and expansion of the current hospital in Dubai to include comprehensive oncology care services were among plans announced by a top official of Zulekha Healthcare Group on the eve of Arab Health 2018.

Taher Shams, managing director of the group, told Gulf News: “The new 150-bed hospital in Sharjah is designed on the model of our successful hospital in Nagpur, India, called The Alexis. We will provide a very good standard of primary and secondary level care, day care, outpatient department services at affordable costs where patients can be referred to our tertiary hospitals in Dubai and Sharjah if need be.”

In the existing Dubai hospital of the group, the expansion will add 60 inpatient beds, additional operation theatres, emergency services and labour rooms taking its total capacity to 179 beds in 2018.
The group offers specialised oncology care at both their tertiary care hospitals in Dubai and Sharjah and the expansion at their Dubai hospital will not only add comprehensive oncology care but several centres of excellence to the existing facility.

Shams added: “At Zulekha Hospital, the expansion includes a dedicated two-bunker unit for radiation oncology which is only offered by one private hospital in Abu Dhabi and two government hospitals in the UAE. This bunker unit will mean that many patients who have to return home for radiation oncology will be able to carry on their treatments here. Apart from this, we will have a comprehensive oncology care facility, surgical theatre and additional cath labs as well.”

The hospital will also have augmentation of other sub-specialities such as Paediatric Nephrology and Paediatric Cardiology alongside Histopathology, Foetal Medicine and Neurosurgery, Trauma Care Unit, IVF Clinic and Diabetes Clinic.

Additionally, Zulekha Healthcare Group will be hosting an INTO robot this year at Arab Health, assisting visitors with information on the group’s services and organisation as a whole. The group is introducing robotic pharmacies as well in order to improve efficiencies in administrative tasks, data collections and customer engagement.
