Abu Dhabi: Women and mothers in the UAE have accomplished many achievements since the UAE was founded, and the founding of the UAE has provided women with opportunities to progress.

In a statement issued on the occasion of Mother’s Day, which falls on March 21, Her Highness Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairperson of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation and Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, said: “The UAE’s union also opened for women the doors for education, work and participating in the social, economic and managerial life.”

Shaikha Fatima congratulated mothers from around the world on this occasion. She emphasised that Emirati mothers have retained their role within their families, raising their children on traditional Arab values and instilling in them values of loyalty to the nation and tolerance. She said that this made Emiratis capable of leading the UAE towards more progress and development that was the nation’s strength.

Shaikha Fatima said that Emirati women have occupied high positions and, alongside men, have made contributions at all levels, shaping the UAE’s prosperous future.
