Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Police on Sunday launched the Year of Zayed Award in recognition of the legacy and values of Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE’s founding father.

Major General Mohammad Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, said that the in-house award is aimed at reviving the legacy, inspirational values and achievements of the late Shaikh Zayed that set him apart as an international leader and a beacon for future generations.

“We also want to highlight Shaikh Zayed’s commitment to spreading the message of peace and tolerance worldwide,” Al Rumaithi added.

Different police departments will compete for the award by organising various initiatives and activities covering four main domains namely culture and knowledge, environment and sustainability, giving and humanity, and social development. These activities will focus on the values of ‘Wisdom, Sustainability, Respect and Human Building.’
