Amman: A Royal decree was issued in Jordan on Sunday approving a reshuffle in Prime Minister Hani Mulki’s government, the Jordan News Agency reported.
Jamal Ahmad Sarayrah will be the new Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister for Prime Ministry Affairs, and Ja’far Abdul-Fattah Hassan the Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister for Economic Affairs. They were both sworn in before King Abdullah II, along with others.
The agency reported that King Abdullah II also received the outgoing ministers at Al Husainiah Palace and thanked them for their efforts during their tenure.
Earlier in the day, a Royal decree was issued accepting the resignation of the ministers of many senior ministers.
The Jordan Times reported that this was the sixth reshuffle of the government of Mulki, who formed his first Cabinet in May 2016.
Last week, the government survived a vote of no-confidence requested by Islamist MPs, who were supported by at least 30 other legislators. The critics accused the premier and his team of failing to address economic woes and resorting to higher taxes and subsidy lifting to increase domestic revenues, according to the paper.
